Dawn DeCarlo
This course is a comprehensive educational session for clinical documentation improvement (CDI) specialists. This course provides foundational knowledge for Medicare/Medicaid legislation that drives healthcare policy and the importance of how quality indicators such as severity of illness and mortality risks that are driven by clinical coding affect patient profiles. The course also reviews each body system for pediatric patients as it is classified under the medical coding guidelines. These body system reviews include disease states, diagnostics, treatments, evaluation, and relationships to other comorbid secondary conditions along with the documentation requirements and coding guidelines that apply for pediatric patients. Each body system review includes a practical application of the material presented using a clinical case study. Contact hours are commensurate with the total time of session attendance and will be awarded upon successful completion of the final examination with a score of 80% or higher and completion of the course evaluation survey
